Importance Of Food Prep~What Our Daily Menu Looks Like

I get a lot of questions about how we eat and what we eat. To be honest, I prep food once or twice a week and we eat that food everyday. We also eat the same things everyday with a change up as far as sauces and spices to keep it from getting boring. To us, food is fuel. Nothing more, nothing less.

We both now have the mentality when we look at food that it is just 3 things. We are automatically go into calculating carbs, protein, and fat. Does this mean we do not like to indulge? Absolutely not! I love cheesecake and Josh love PopTarts ha ha ha. It just means we have less cravings for those things and we know to eat them in moderation. They are items we have every great once in a while. To boost metabolism, we certainly encourage cheat meals! I hate the term “Cheat Meal” I think of it more of an indulgence ;-)

Some of the things we prep to make meals easier are Crockpot Chicken. Basically we buy 6-8lb packages of all natural, boneless, skinless chicken breasts. We put them in a Crockpot cover them with water and cook on high for about 4-6 hours then on low for another 4-6 hours. It makes super tender meat that instantly shreds when you touch it! The end result is easy shredded chicken that you can weigh as you go. Super easy and a great source of lean protein! I typically only put a little kosher salt and cracked pepper in with the chicken while it cooks. When we make our meals is when we season it to our liking. You can store it in some Pyrex or Tupperware for about a week.

For sides we usually boil a pot of Jasmine rice or brown rice and keep them in a Pyrex in the fridge. We also do steamed veggies either fresh or frozen. Another favorite is Garden noodles, Chia noodles, and Whole wheat noodles. We do not pre cook them, because they just do not keep as well plus they don’t take long to cook at all. These are typical things you will see us eat on a daily basis. Now that we are in a bulk we do switch it up a little more, but for the most part this is all we eat. Breakfast is typically the same for both of us every morning. I have about 5-6 egg whites, a huge bowl of oats, and maybe some turkey bacon. Josh usually has grits and real bacon, but he has no desire to compete as of yet ;-) although the thought has crossed his mind.

Typical breakfast for me. I have to have my coffee too lol

Keeping it simple is how we stay on track. What foods are staples in your house? Do you do food prep?  Hope this answered some of your questions! Hope you have a Fabulously fit day!!!! xoxo

  1. I am so fascinated with reading about others’ food prep, even if it is really similar to my own, and I have no idea why. But you are so right in the fact that I now look at any given food item and immediately mentally break it into macros, but I find that fun. Great post!
