Yesterday, Zoe and I went on a Hike. It was AWESOME!!!! We really needed to get out and about, cut loose, and have some extra fun! Plus it was a gorgeous day!!!!!
I had brought Zoe here when she was about a year old. I never took her on trails, because she was too young to make the trek, some parts of the trail can be pretty rough. The sign at the beginning had me questioning whether she was old enough still. I sat her down before we continued and explained to her how important it is to stay by mama at all times. She understood, so we went on.
The first part of the trail was mostly uphill. Zoe was loving looking out over the bluffs. There were ducks, geese , and these huge cranes swimming in the lake. It was truly a gorgeous sight!
I think Zoe’s reaction after we climbed the hill to get to the top of the bluff was the best! She was just in awe of how high we were and how far she could see. This was just the first part of the hike lol she thought we were gonna head back and I explained we were headed into the woods. She said “Oh like Snow White.” Ha ha ha Yeah something like that kiddo.
It was pretty crazy how the color of the woods went from being drab to bright and green. It went in phases as we kept going. It seemed the deeper we went the more green it was.
It was nice and peaceful out there. Zoe and I were really enjoying each other’s company!
We had the craziest thing happen. We were just walking along and Zoe looked up at me and said “Did you hear that mama?” I didn’t hear anything, but just as she said that I felt something brush up against me and Zoe said “Look mama reindeer!!!” We were surrounded by like 30-40 deer! They were all Doe’s and fawns. We didn’t see one buck. They weren’t scared of us at all. It was pretty cool to be so close.
We walked a little further then decided to stop to eat
I prepped a ton of food so I wouldn’t miss my meals, since I wasn’t sure how long we would be gone.
The deer actually followed us and they decided to stop and rest across the creek from us while we ate.
Zoe stayed on the look out for more deer the rest of the hike lol I was pretty proud of how well she did!
We had a blast! Zoe was ready for a nap and I was ready to hit the weight room for my back workout!
I was reading blogs last night and on one of my favorites, Mindy’s Fitness Journey, (A must read by the way! I dubbed her Ms. Awesome because she is fabulously inspiring and of course just AWESOME!!! CLICK HERE to check her out!!! ) Mindy talked about a weird creeper she and a friend had come across while walking around at her son’s baseball game. I never really talk about it (nor do I want to) but as a kid something happened to me and since then I always am paranoid, especially when out by myself! Knowing I was going into the woods alone with Zoe did make me feel a little vulnerable. Of course, I am not the type to let fear keep me from having fun.
I do arm myself and stay aware of my surroundings. There are a lot of crazy and sick people in this world! I think Mindy’s message of staying aware and always on the look out when out running, walking, or hiking is great! I personally use an app on my phone called Life360 It shows where sexual predators live, what they look like, what crimes they committed, what crimes have been committed in the area you are in, as well as letting your family know where you are, it even has a panic mode to alert your family if you are in danger so they can not only locate you, but the authorities can be notified! I just wanted to touch base, since I have SO many friends who run. Sometimes we need to be reminded to stay safe. Let someone know where you are going, purchase mace or some other means of protecting yourself, and stay aware of your surroundings and the people around you. Just stay safe!!!! Thank you Mindy for the reminder xoxo
I hope you all have a fabulously fit day!!!!! xoxox

Awww looks like such a beautiful day!!!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE hiking, and I can’t wait to do it soon again!
